Personal Retreat at Rolling Ridge Study Retreat CommunityPersonal retreat is for individuals, couples, or small groups who seek new vision and rest in a wilderness setting. We have three facilities that are possible for personal retreat. THE CORDWOOD COTTAGE This is a one-room hermitage originally built for learning and practice in preparation for the construction of the fifth residential community house, Woodhaven. The Cordwood Cottage has been likened to a "Hobbit house," with charming features, a living roof, and a cozy, beautiful interior. It is the perfect rustic setting for someone seeking solitude in a natural setting. The Cottage has a queen bed, microwave, and small refrigerator. Water for drinking and cooking is stored in a ceramic crock with a convenient tap. Heat is provided by a wood stove. The Cottage does not have indoor plumbing. It is possible to access bathroom facilities if necessary at the Retreat House, a short walk from the Cottage. Rate: $20/person/night To stay at the Cordwood Cottage, please contact us at RIVER HOUSE This small A-frame cottage is suitable for individuals, couples or small groups (sleeps one to six) from April to November (it is closed in winter). Located near the Shenandoah River on property immediately adjacent to Rolling Ridge land, River House is managed by our sister community, Friends of Silence. In addition to bedroom, bath and sleeping loft, River House has a small kitchen, and living room area with large windows looking out to a wide meadow river bank. It offers secluded get-away for those seeking solitude and silence in a wilderness setting. Rate: $50/person/night, sliding scale for couples or small groups STILL POINT MOUNTAIN RETREAT Still Point Mountain Retreat is a lovely three or four bedroom cabin sleeping 6-8. The writer's cottage behind Still Point houses the Friends of Silence library and has space for one or two more lodgers. Still Point has a breathtaking view of the Shenandoah River and valley, and is on land immediately adjacent to the Rolling Ridge Foundation. Rates for Still Point are $30/person/night with a sliding scale for families and groups of more than 6.
